Make new friends

That's all fine and dandy, but what about making those new, silver friends? While I mentioned in my last post that it's difficult to meet guys, it's just as difficult to make new friends as a young adult. Since moving back from Virginia, I've become friends with my roomie, my co-worker, a photographer at a club I frequent, a girl I met at karaoke, and a girl I met through a friend from VA.
My friend Caitlin (who I met at karaoke) just attended a local networking event. I haven't heard her full report on it, but I'm wondering if this may be a fun way to meet new people.
While I do enjoy blogging, sitting home alone on a Friday night is not my idea of a fun time. Perhaps this is another things that I will work on this upcoming year. Goal? Maybe make 5 new friends? We'll see.

Gah! You seriously took the words out of my mouth! It is incredibly hard to make friends once you're out of high school it seems - especially if you've just relocated somewhere new. People are very hesitant to allow others into their "groups." Maybe I should make finding a few new friends one of my goals for the new year, as well. :/
ReplyDeleteGo somewhere that you enjoy and maybe you can meet new people there. I know it is hard especially if you are not a joiner. Sometimes you have to make yourself do it! :>)
ReplyDeleteI so relate with you on this. Meeting friends after school is hard. Everyone has their own lives, etc. I've been on my own for 2 years now and am just starting to make real friends. It takes awhile. Just be open and don't get discouraged. Most people have their own set of priorities that have nothing to do with you.
