So I've been on a freebies kick. No, I don't take whatever crap people are getting rid of. I spend 20-30 minutes each day going through freebie sites to see what companies are offering and requesting the best samples and goodies available.
Here are some of my recent scores:
Clockwise from top left: makeup bag from Bellevue Collection, panty from VS, sample of Taylor Swift's perfume, coupon for free skittles, and free redbox rental.
See? You don't need to spend a lot to enjoy the better things in life!
Frugally yours,
~K

Response songs
We all know about wars between rappers and hip hop artists; how they use their lyrics to bash someone else in the industry. However, there are response-type songs that are a bit nicer than these.
One such example is "Then He Kissed Me" by the Crystals:
Perhaps not a direct response, the Beach Boys came up with their own spin on this story with "Then I Kissed Her":
Sweet, no? Wait, it gets even better! Taylor Swift wrote her song "Enchanted" aimed at Adam Young of Owl City Fame.
While Taylor left the song relatively vague, Adam's response/cover was pretty straightforward. In fact, he even wrote out a whole note to Taylor explaining how smitten he was by her.
Sigh. I want someone to write me a song!

Luna Halo vs. Taylor Swift
As the resident DJ at work, I try to mix up the music as opposed to falling into a rut. So a couple days ago, I decided to play some Luna Halo songs that I hadn't heard before. Surprised by the content, I later learned that they had decided to cross over from the Christian music industry to mainstream. Ok, I can handle that. The songs were pretty catchy, and one has been stuck in my head ever since that first play.
"Untouchable" was written by the lead singer of Luna Halo for Taylor Swift. Personally, I think that the Luna Halo rock version beats Taylor's soft and slow version hands down. Tell me what you think!
Luna Halo version:
Taylor Swift version:
Get out in the sun today!
