How to hit on a guy

In an effort to empower young women everywhere, I created a tutorial/self-help video on how to hit on a guy. I knew that there was a need, as there wasn't already a video with that exact name anywhere on youtube. You're welcome, world.

Budgeting: Review

To review last week. As of Wednesday I was at $37.44 out of $45. On Saturday I picked up tortilla chips, so add another $2.99 for a week's total of $40.43. That means I was $4.57 under!! Woot woot!

Sunday I'm going to skip over since we took the family out to dinner for Father's day and I took my little brother to the movies. Sometimes you just have to let things go.

So today, with grocery shopping yesterday and lunch from Costco today (yummy cheap pizza!), I am currently at $14.33 for this week. I will be spending a bit more at Uwajimaya tonight for dinner with my friend while we watch Downton Abbey, but my pennies are gonna keep getting pinched.

Lovely little memory

I don't remember why we suddenly had to go out of the main dance room, but my friend took my hand and headed out. I did my best to follow her, but I'm a klutz, it was packed, and I was wearing heels.

To top things off, someone right in front of my suddenly pushed backward into me. As I began falling, I silently cursed myself for wearing those strappy sandals.

It would have been enough to just fall against one of the many people surrounding me in the busy club. That's to be expected when you barely have room to breathe. Yet, I didn't just fall against someone.

I was caught. I looked up to thank whoever was holding me in their arms. The face looking back at me smiled, and I smiled too. I was looking at one of the most attractive men I had ever seen, and he seemed to be seeing me in the same light.

And then the same idiot pushed backward again. This time, however, I was encased in protective arms. Once again I thanked my savior and began to follow my impatient friend, though not without his requesting a dance at a later time. I agreed, and later than night I met him on the dance floor and everyone else seemed to disappear.

It may have been a few years ago, but I still remember looking up into the face of the handsome stranger. Butterflies and magic are still out there...

Nostalgically yours,

Budgeting: Hump day

As of Monday I am on a $45/week budget. My recent forays into budgeting didn't really work out because I limited myself too much. $45 is completely doable, right?

Um...

So it's Wednesday. I've been on this budget since Monday. As of today, I have spent $37.44. I went through my receipts, and I have been good and mostly sticking to what I need. That "mostly" is what gets me, though. $2 for Costco frozen yogurt was a splurge today. $2.18 for McDonald's yesterday was not really necessary. Did I need that frozen pizza? No, but at $3.99 it's pretty good for Frescheta. Sigh. We'll see how this plays out.

Everyone come see how good I look! ...looked.

Yes, come one come all! I just found a picture from several Halloweens ago when I was a sexy stewardess back when I didn't have my little tummy pooch. lol

Aren't most costumes like that? Sexy [fill in the blank]. Yes, I play into that. It's ok, though. I have Jenna Marble's approval:

Let's see if I can get back into sexy shape by this Halloween!

Boo.

Budgeting: the story continues

It is now late May, and how close am I to my goal of $5000 saved by the end of the year? Not very close. I have just over $1000 in my savings account. So what happens if there's an emergency? What if my car craps out? I'm stuck.

At the suggestion of my friend, I signed up for Mint, which is a budgeting tool that connects to your bank account or credit card account to follow your spending habits. What have I learned? I spend too much on shopping and food. Yeah, big surprise. But one thing that my friend pointed out (after I tried to grab the check at lunch) is that I should stop paying for others all the time. Not that it's bad or that I can't treat others once in a while, but sometimes it becomes a habit. Sometimes it's ok to just pay my half.

As far as shopping goes, I don't know what to say. My wardrobe still doesn't fully please me. I wish that I could work with a stylist who could help me find the best pieces for me at decent prices to make me love everything in my closet. Unfortunately, Stacy London isn't my fairy godmother, so I just need to work on making do with what I have....which is not easy.

I have so many unknowns to save for, and now I have another thing to save for: Europe trip next year with my best friend. Wish me luck!

Changes

Changes don't always happen immediately. Sometimes they're so subtle that we don't notice them until long after they've already taken place. One day you just realize with a start how different you are from what you used to be.

That's been happening with me. I don't know if I'm necessarily better or worse than I used to be, but I do see that I'm changed. In some ways I'm meeker than I ever was before, and yet in other ways I'm much more outgoing. There was a time when I told off a guy for asking me out via text (he immediately called me), but now it's the norm.

What things ought to be changed in my life, and which things should stay consistent? I really don't know.

Confused yet again,

~K
