Giving thanks in November

It is currently a Facebook trend to post daily statuses on what you are thankful for through the month of November. Aww, how creative! Yeah, not so much. I've seen some about how thankful they are for such great friends from all backgrounds, thankful for a husband, etc.

Puke.

Ok, people, I'm gonna put a list together of some of the things we're all (or most of us) thankful for, but won't end up on Facebook.

1. I'm thankful for the ability to block calls/texts from certain numbers on my phone. I don't really want to continue talking to jerks, or guys I felt guilt-tripped into giving my real number.

2. I'm thankful for the microwave. Seriously, you can't make diddly squat without one anymore! Leftovers? Oh, yeah, just stick them in the toaster. Um..no.

3. I'm thankful for not having to live with a roommate anymore. FREEDOM RULES!!

4. I'm thankful for Forever 21 having cute cheap clothes. Those of us who want to look good on a budget depend on them!

5. I'm thankful for Beringer White Zinfandel. It goes with pretty much anything, and it's crisp and just slightly sweet.

6. I'm thankful for Avril Lavigne for inspiring my Halloween costume. Too bad no one remembers her old school look. Come on, who else wears a tie like that??

7. I'm thankful for 409. Without my beloved all-purpose cleaner, I would still have black stains on my microfiber couch.

8. I'm thankful for sleeping in for the past week. Much needed rest!

9. I'm thankful for having so many different shades of red lipstick to choose from.

10. I'm thankful for Facebook. Without it, how else would I know if someone liked something I said?

There you go. 10 things I'm thankful for, that you are most likely thankful for as well.

Gratefully yours,

~K

Stories of a CSR: Public education at its finest

As most of my loyal readers know, I work in customer service. From time to time, I see emails that make me laugh, make me angry (remember that I have your home address and phone number, people!), and make me just shake me head in despair. The following is an example of the latter:

"Are school department would like to order a xxxx case. The web price is 24.95 is that the price I can do a purchase order for? If so what would be the shipping and handling be?

Thanks,
Xxxxxxx
ABC School"

Sigh. This is why my parents chose to homeschool me.

Saddened by society,

Onward to 30

I suppose aging is inevitable. It is something that begins the moment we exit our mother's womb, and we unknowingly march on toward our own deaths. Lovely, right?

I'm told often that I do not look my age. However, I am being carded less often than a few years ago. Do I dress older? I don't really have wrinkles. Perhaps I should stop calling those younger than me "whippersnappers", since it does sound like something an old person would say.

Last week I turned the big 2-7. No, it isn't really a milestone birthday, but it is just another reminder of how close I am to the big 3-0.

When I was younger, I couldn't imagine being this old. In fact, I was sure I would have died by 16. No real reason, I wasn't into a bad scene or anything. I just thought I would die young.

Well, I've managed to stay alive, and here I am. So what do I have to show for it? Well, I am the head of my department at work, I have my own apartment with a gorgeous view, and I do in fact still have my looks. Besides that, I have friends who truly care about me, a family who loves me, and the rest of the years ahead for many more adventures. Life is good.

But I got anti-wrinkle cream just in case.

Young at heart,

~K

Things I'm Not Doing Today

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and here I sit blogging away. While I did spend quite a bit of the day out and about with my mom running errands, apartment shopping, and other random things, this day has not been very eventful. Since I am unable to relate fabulous adventures I experienced today, here's a list of fabulous adventures I did NOT have today:

1. Feel the cool spray of the glistening waters while boating on Lake Washington

2. See one of my favorite artists, LIGHTS, perform at the Bumbershoot festival

3. Kiss a handsome stranger

4. Visit the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) and see people dressed up in costumes from all sorts of games from across numerous platforms

5. Go on an out-of-control shopping spree at Bellevue Square, Alderwood Mall, and South Center

6. Fly off to a small island nation with only my passport, $50, and bikini

7. Give out autographed pictures of myself, unsolicited

So many things I could have done that I didn't do. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Your lazy day girl,

Never thought I'd see the day

Text conversation I had with a friend:

me: So...X is married. In other news, pigs have grown wings and hell is getting a bit chilly

friend: Wow. What is his wife like? He is such a creepy guy...see, there is someone for everyone...truth revealed

me: She looked pretty enough, but probably weird.

friend: Wow so she is pretty?!

me: Not super pretty
Just kinda pretty

friend: Now even X is having sex regularly...life is just not fair

me: No kidding
Oh well, she's stuck having sex with X. Poor girl!!
I wouldn't want to have sex with that creepy gorilla

Moral of the story: just because everyone around you seems to be coupling off doesn't mean that you should be jealous.

Sassy and single,

~K

Stories of a CSR: Dogs are too common

So a while ago I had a separate blog for stories from my experience in customer service. While I deleted the blog due to inconsistency (not enough interesting stories at any given time), I have saved a few up and will be posting them from time to time.

At my work, one of our popular products is a capacitive stylus for touchscreen devices. One of our customers sent us the following email regarding the styluses:

"Do you sell extra rubber tips for any of the iPad styli? My pet raccoon loves chewing off the tips. I hide them but she can smell a stylus anywhere in my house. I have a dozen different pens with no ends...all sizes!

Thanks for your help!"   Yes, ladies and gentlmen. Her pet raccoon ate the tips! Unfortunately, there wasn't really much we could do, given the circumstances. Perhaps she could buy raccoon snacks so the fuzzy thief doesn't go after her styluses? Just a thought.   Happy with a normal pet,   ~K
